understand this subject that you go back to school
and learn basic arithmetic and elementary algebra?

You lack the prerequisites to study cryptography.

It's not that, it's the fact that there were 2 possible sums which give 2
vastly different answers, i've always favoured the first, it could easily be
the second as well. So I figured I would settle it once and for all and
actually ask. If you want to citicize me for checking my math then go for
your life.
