It was neither pedantic, nor witty, but your remark about mine is
insulting and even less helpful. My remark was as precise as an
answer could get, and the point is: Don't choose a programming
language by its support for large integer arithmetic. Choose one
that fits your particular purpose and which you're comfortable with.

Think before insulting people for their well meant remarks.

I'm sorry to have caused you trouble, ES. I was trying to be helpful
to the original poster, and had no desire to insult your post. I
honestly thought that learning about Turing-complete programming
languages would not be an efficient way for the original poster to
address his immediate needs, and I sincerely believed that that part
of your answer was playful.

Nevermind, apology accepted. Admittedly, it was playful a bit, because
I felt that the OP was on the wrong track and giving an immidiate answer
would keep him/her there. I hoped that my point was clear.

What would a helpful answer be? Enumerating languages that support it?
I guess not. Of course I could take the easy way and just recommend my
favorite language, but that seemed incorrect to me, because in my
opinion, it would be fatal to choose a language based on its support for
large integer arithmetic. The 'bc' example should make this clear, and
that was in fact the reason for mentioning it.

Greets,
Ertugrul.
