It sounds like what would fit your requirements better is a firewall/
gateway that also serves as a termination point for VPNs. The VPNs
(outside the firewall) will keep your transactions secure while the
firewall/gateway will route the traffic from the VPNs to your DMZ
(where the "front end server" resides).

Google for "virtual private network" or "VPN".
