I don't want detract in any way from Ronald Rivet's achievement but
the indefensible truth still remains that had he not resorted to
exraordinary mathemaics his cipher would have been cracked by ordinary
school level methods of factoring.

What's "extraordinary" about the mathematics in RSA?

"Surprising", I could go for. (G.H.Hardy never suspected such an
application.)

The important point that I am making is this; The unbreakable cipher
does not exist in scalar mathematics even for these brilliant
mathematicians. The RSA cipher is not accredited as being
theoretically unbreakbable.?

Well, no. Not "unbreakable", but in practice that doesn't seem
important. And even if RSA is broken next week, probably such a break
would involve some number theory insights that won't apply to EC
techniques.

Hi,

I agree, but it is a very parlous state for National Government to
have live with the fact that there are people out there trying like
hell with enormous computer power to factorise the large numbers that
will break the RSA cipher. Also, there are enemy mathematicians out
there constantly seeking better factoring algorithms that will break
RSA if they succeed.

In principle it is unmatheamtical in my view to deliberate destroy the
fluency of numbers by adopting numbers that are so large that they
cannot be worked on by computers because of the integer overflow
problem that they will create as a deliberate act. - thanks -
