I had a look on amazon and it seems like most of the abstract algebra books were around the
1000 page mark. so yeah, maybe there is more that I need in these texts.
What abstract algebra subject's should I home in on?
Start with elementary group theory. Have you actually tried reading
Koblitz's "Course in number theory and cryptography"? Did you have
trouble with it? It covers the subjects you need so it doesn't really
have prerequisites, but it does them in a pretty quick fashion so it
will help if you've either had some prior exposure or else have a
teacher you can get help from.
