You do realize that deleting a statement from the description on your
webpage doesn't necessarily change the quality or nature of your software?
Remember, if it looks like a duck, walks like a duck, and quacks like a
duck, it probably -is- a duck, even if it doesn't have a label on it that
says "I am a duck".
I will disagree to some degree with this, or actually with what I read as
the spirit of the statement. Of course it won't change the nature of the
product by changing the marketing, but with accurate statements in the
marketing I would never call something a problem.
To provide my point better consider something outside the realm of my
expertise, detergent. Let's call the detergent Snake Cleaner. If Snake
Cleaner was claiemd as being so powerful that 1 ounce of it was enough to
clean all the dirt off the earth, I have no doubt that it would be extremely
reasonable to call Snake Cleaner, with that claim, the detergent equivalent
of snake-oil. Now consider the same Snake Cleaner, the exact same product,
same formulation, same package, same people, but now it simply claims to be
highly effective at cleaning grease off of hands. This second claim could be
considered reasonable, and as long as it did perform reasonably well at
cleaning grease off hands it should not be considered snake-oil detergent.
So while changing purely the claims does not change the product, it can
change a product from being considered snake-oil to being considered good.
I guess the main point here is that claiming to be a usable OTP is basically
claiming to be able to clean the dirt off the earth.
