Explanation of my annoying bullish behaviour -

Can I explain why I have been deliberately bullish about promoting
vector cryptography and may I also apologise to all of you that I have
annoyed - Phil and Joe especially.

First of all, I am convinced that scalar data is so innately
transparent that it is totally unsuitable for cryptography. I believe
that the hands-on people in the community are true cryptographers. I
know also that they are dedicated and believe in what they say but I
am strongly of the belief at the moment that there just has to be
something better than scalar numbers for cryptography. I believe that
the sheer weakness of scalar numbers as data for cryptography has
spawned a plethora of numerical analysis that nobody will ever
overcome and there is a futility in me towards learning anything about
the highly intelligent science of contemporary cryptography at present
until I am sure that vector data is not the answer. At present I think
it is. I would embark on that course immediately if I was convinced
there was no future for vector cryptography

I am not a cryptographer but I wrote a cipher way back in 1997and
didn't know enough about cryptography to be able to say what type of
cipher I had written. I wrote the cipher as I would solve an
engineering problem and only then did I consult my very good handbook
to find out what class it is in.

In the course of learning whatever bit of cryptography I know today I
have had some very bad treatment by the establishment and frankly I
have a very low opinion of the academies and associations and the
individuals who have given proprietary names to one-off bits of very
minor cryptography that won them fellowships from the same
establishment of the crypto world.

I have written politely and telephoned many individuals only to get no
answer. Some big name academies here in the UK lost my stuff and said
"oh it was posted to last Thursday " and many other such rude
experiences. So, in my book they are not up to much. At the same time
I know they would not hesitate to plagiarise my ciphers and bring say
vector cryptography under the umbrella of the status quo and
plagiarise that also at the next conference if I ever produced
anything notable.

This is why I am deliberately labouring the promotional aspect
unashamedly to thwart and pre-empt any such moves - I want to be
associated as belonging in sci crypt even if for unpleasant reasons
and be known by the community.

I must tell you I have learned a great amount through the stimulation
of the postings in sci crypt - it is a great environment to be in and
I value it a lot. If vector cryptography fails me then I will learn
from the best people there is in the business.

I say sorry to all the people that I have annoyed and will try and
avoid doing this again. Sincerely - adacrypt.
