Can anyone recommend any good dis erasure tools for Win32 (or from a
LiveCD)? I am after the military-grade wipe kind of thing..
Any LiveCD with the GNU core utilities will do "military-grade wipe kind
of thing". In other words: Any Linux LiveCD will do. Look for the
utility `shred'.
But remember, you cannot erase data such that it can't be restored. You
can only make this arbitrarily difficult. What is a lot more secure is
to not let plaintext data get onto the hard-drive at all. Use
filesystem encryption and encrypt everything. However, seems to be too
late now, for whatever data you're going to shred.
