Well it's definitely not the latter, but the former does show up nicely
since it apparently uses Square which is rather broken. The fact of the
matter is that no security program is quashed because it is "too safe" no
matter what the snake-oil peddlers, conspiracy crackpots, "Government is
evil", etc claim, and the evidence is mounting that private sector
cryptanalytic abilities are actually rather quickly approaching government
capabilities*. So basically, pegwit is alive, but the armor no longer
exists.

Which has absolutely nothing to do with anything in this except to
conspiracy crackpots.

* The only viable contrary claim I am aware of comes from Coppersmith during
the AES process where he stated that MARS was built with an attack in mind
that was not publicly known.
