truecrypt will run not installed. it only need extraction, or a
previous install. since its jsut a directory on my machine, it doesnt
have any pointers in the registry, and still works, i would have to
say it works without an install.

If true, your experience contradicts Truecrypt's documentation:

i.e. Like pretty much *all* OTFE systems (including FreeOTFE, DriveCrypt,
etc), if someone with Adminiistrator privileges installs it on your PC,
anyone can use it.
You still need to have Administrator privileges to run it in
portable/traveller mode though.
