I don't think there's a crusade. A BSD license is the only license that
makes sense for a crypto library.

My projects are public domain.

A closed source library can't have its internals readily examined. A
library covered by the GPL limits its usefulness to the point of not
being worth the time or effort.

GPL does hinder the usefulness in a variety of commercial ventures
[whether RMS fans choose to acknowledge such instances or not]

Tom is not Stallmanite - the BSD license was a pragmatic choice of
license and one that I agree with.

I'd say what I do goes a bit beyond the goals of the FSF. Where FSF is
meant to bring "freedoms" to the users [and in turn developers] what I
do also brings them knowledge to do something about it.
