This program, Jetico BestCrypt Volume Encryption, looks as though it is
going to be used by many people so I am going to start a thread here
for discussion. They are closed source and in beta but I have emailed
them and they said they will probably be making the program open to
others for 3rd party review once they come out with the final version.
Does anyone have opinions of this software/company? I am beta testing
it and it seems good but I will not trust it until they have strong 3rd
party reviews obviously. Previously I have used Truecrypt which is nice
as it is open source and works on both windows and linux, as well as
Jetico's BCWipe which is good for secure file deletion.
It supports:
* AES (Rijndael) - 256-bit key.
* Blowfish - 448-bit key.
* CAST - 128-bit key.
* GOST 28147-89 - 256-bit key.
* RC6 - 256-bit key.
* Serpent - 256-bit key.
* Twofish - 256-bit key.
I like it as it encrypts the entire windows partition rather than just
data partitions or files, which is important due to so many temp files
everywhere. They use LRW instead of CBC. I have much experience over
the years with crypto but as far as the mathematical underpinnings or
any theoretical weaknesses, I know nothing.. so any opinions on this
software by the erudite users on this group would be much appreciated!
