Recent Algorithms Published?

So maybe I've just been out of it for a while but why does it seem like
there hasn't been a single reputable algorithm to come up since
Rijndael? That was how many x-years ago? Elliptic Curve is starting
to pop up around places but thats Public Key. If someone knows of an
algorithm I don't, please let me know. Also, yeah Rijndael is sick, I
just like change.
