Eh? Where is the conspiracy _theory_? The House Committe (and anyone else

No
theory there.
Or do you think it didn't happen? You would be boldly flying into a brick
wall of contrary evidence if you do.

Go ahead and post some facts, if you have any.

Maybe Bruce did hear such a rumor while researching his book.
I believe Bruce said he was told it by a member of NSA. That's not a
rumour,
it's a quote.

No, Bruce said this in his book:
"Off the record, NSA has characterized DES as one of their biggest
mistakes. If they knew the details would be released so that people could
write software, they would never have agreed to it."

He did not give a quote, and he did not say whether his source is
from the NSA or elsewhere. He is merely reciting a rumor.

The fact that you and others misinterpret what Bruce said is more
reason to remove the statement.

More, it conforms with the known and recorded behaviour and attitudes of
NSA, and if someone there didn't think so I'd think they weren't doing
their
job properly.

That's your opinion. I see from your sig line that you are prone to
wacky conspiracy theories.
