Re: Why everyone uses envelopes but few encrypt emails?

I have said several times that people post anonymously for variety of
reasons. In this case, my reason was to isolate EaSecure from any
liabilities that may arise from my postings. It was obvious from my
postings that I was associated with EaSecure and I have never tried to
hide that. Now I have found a better way to isolate EaSecure from my
actions here and I have posted a disclaimer before, here it is again:

Um, you could have just said that in the first place. I've mentioned
[or hinted at] where I work and each time I disclaim my post. More
like you got caught being an idiot and now you're using that as your
excuse.

What? You think you're the first people to use this trick? Look
through the archives, name-dropping spam is not a new trick.

I hereby disclose that I am associated with or have an interest in
EaSecure Corporation. However, the postings under the name "privacy
concerned" are my personal views and should not be mistaken as the
official views of EaSecure Corporation. EaSecure Corporation will not
be liable for any thing I say or do here.

Except that's rarely enough. I can say "I'm Tom not $EMPLOYER" but
that doesn't let me say things like "$EMPLOYER is planning on doing, or
feels that, or ...". Anytime I talk about my work it's in the form
"From public information" or "I would do ...". I never speak for my
company even though I disclaim that my words are my own.

There is nothing wrong about talking about your product [except your
first post was a blatant advertisement] if you have legitimate
issues/questions to raise. But name-dropping spam is spam.

You could just as easily have started the thread with

"I work for EaSecure, we are working on this product and are looking
for feedback about our proposed design."

I agree, the thread could have been started better, but if you read my
first post in this thread, you will see that I was asking the question
why people use envelopes but few encrypt emails and looking for
feedbacks on a solution to that problem, except I did not directly say
that "I work for EaSecure."

Instead you wrote

"FEAR! PEOPLE ARE INSECURE! OMG PONIES! Look what I found, totally
innoncently, some product called EaSecure. It *IS* the solution to all
of lifes problems!"

Which is why I call you a name-dropping spammer, and a bad one at that
[hint: next time use a different posting netblock].

Tom
Read my first post - It asks a question and looks for feedbacks on a
possible solution. Many people responded to that and that is why this
thread has become so long. A name-dropping spammer can never make a
long thread filled with serious discussions.
