The most important mathematical topics for understanding cryptography?

Hi.
I was thinking of studying some mathematics this summer. Mainly for
it's own sake. The trouble is I don't know what to chose!
To make matters simpler, I have decided to study the mathematical
topics most useful for understanding cryptography (since I am
interested in cryptography too, and will pursue it later).
What _are_ the most important mathematical topics in cryptography?
Abstract algebra? Discrete mathematics? Number theory?
Thank you!
Björn
