I suspect you've misquoted me. I suspect it's more likely I said
something like that if you have to use compression (for whatever reason),
then it's better to compress before encrypting, not after. But there's
no security reason to compress; the main reason to compress would be to
reduce bandwidth consumption. Compressing is not necessary for security,
if you use a modern cryptosystem. Any cryptosystem that can't encrypt
uncompressed data securely is inferior and substandard, and there's no
point wasting your time on inferior systems.
