Well, those messages are missing at University of Oulu, (Finland) news
server too. It has the same John E. Hadstate's posts between
(2005/11/20 and 2005/11/26 ) as Google groups. So, maybe the Usenet
has finally started to evolve towards being a moderated forum. - Now
moderating only John E. Hadstate.
How smashing - in a few years time there could be AI programs
reading all messages. And if the keyword-weighed contents would
indicate a conflict between the message and the 'official truth' an
automatic CANCEL message would be sent to remove the message from
poisoning the 'official truth'. Off cause there could be many such
AI- moderators each run by the governments or corporations - maybe
some AI - moderators could even focus on monitoring the interests of
some fat-walleted individuals.
A few moths ago I did suggest community projects which (I think)
the world would be needing - but is missing. Among those projects is a
project-Othernet which specifically allows the censorship by high
payments. The Othernet would be (a kind of a
freenet-bittorrent-hybrid) a p2p - network, where anyone could upload
material and anyone could also remove any uploaded material. The trick
would be that it would cost an electronic penny to upload files and
the removal (censorship) fee would be much higher let's say a 1000 -
10000 x the upload fee. The required e-pennies could only be made/
(authorized to make) by a collection of world class charity
organizations.
Benefits:
<-- Anyone could upload any material
<-- but if the content would be totally bad it could be removed but it
would cost dearly
<-- Piratism & illegal porn issues could be maintained because any one
could remove the illegal content
<-- each uploaded file / message would yield charities cash

Thus, maybe some kind of 'good censorship' can be arranged somehow
someday - even if the words 'good' and 'censorship' have very little
in common.
