Let me think back over the last few weeks. Donald Rumsfeld has
stated that the Iraqi insurgency is on its last legs, this was rather
strange considering the US military in Iraq had already released a
report showing the number of attacks by the insurgency was up by a
factor of 10.

Which version of history should you believe?

It is not "America bashing" to point out and protest about where the
US administration falls short - it is part of the first amendment and
a cornerstone of democracy.
