It represents mediocracy. You educate your customers not play to their
level. Avoiding proper crypto because it's hard to sell is like
avoiding Calculus because it's hard to teach...

A barcode is just an encoding method. Yes it's a cool idea. No it's
not a way to encrypt data.

Why not just use AES [in an appropriate mode with a MAC] and then
encode that in a 2d barcode? Why must it be one way or your way?
