It's also the same profile to match the largest beer consumption, the
largest group to join the military, the largest group to support a
government, the largest group to question a government, the group with the
most to lose, the group with the least to lose. In short it's just about
saying "most suicide bombers are human." The timing probably has more to do
with a crisis of personality that is quite common around the age of majority
(most often 18) where one's position in society changes drastically
overnight leading many into a state of partial confusion. This age tends to
catalyze individuals to do things they normally would not, whether it is
heiresses allowing themself to be filmed, or flying planes into buildings
doesn't make much difference.

The big part you're missing is that these individuals had trained for
several years, by general concensus at least 5 and by some theories up to 9
placing the individuals involved substantially _below_ college aged. What
you have to remember is that it was important to enter the country, and the
US has extremely lax entry for college students, that is probably the
strongest link you will find.

In truth you will find numerous other characteristics that lead to a
conclusion that these individuals probably had more to do with a
Columbine-like mentality due to prior abuse then with the age theory. For
example all of the hijackers were relatively short, consistently making for
a situation where teasing is constant. You will also notice a sunstantial
family tendancy towards obesity in several of them, something that outside
the US is very frowned upon. You will find that the individuals come from
fundamentalist familes (before you latch onto that keep in mind that George
W Bush himself is a fundamentalist). You will also find that the majority of
the hijackers came from a country that has very restrictive laws and a close
association with the US (Saudi Arabia), something which works very fell to
focus resentment for individuals in that situation. In short you will find
enormous amounts of other information that indicates that the age is largely
coincidental, and that the closeness in age probably represents more a
comradery than a risk.
