On a sunny day (Thu, 31 Mar 2005 01:44:29 -0800) it happened "Max Power"

OK, I should not reply to something like this... for several reasons ;-)
But anyways, long time a go (1967) I lived across the street from an embassy
(never mind countries etc, but really true), and one evening while looking for
music on my FM portable, I came across a listening device planted in what
sounded like a restroom there.
On AM MW you need a high power, in the evening the band is full of far away
stations, and you cannot get through, you need a ridiculous big antenna.
In these modern days, your 'agent' would use a GSM (encrypted) cell phone.
There are little sets for in the 430 MHz band too, for a few dollars (walky
talky).
Just let the guy say: 'Hello this is secret agent 007 with an encrypted message:
beep bliep beep blieb'.
This then stands for 'my battery is empty now'.
Other methods are playing trumpet..
Do you not think that a simple cell phone has made most of that FM / MW
redundant?
You could use a laptop with wireless too, and encrypt.
There are cell-phones with extra encryption sold too.
Shining a modulated laser... if there is derect sight.
Or even projecting a modulated lasr on a point both can see, that does NOT
gicve a way destination.
Be original.. My old 500 W SW station was almost tracked down :-)
It is just that they made the mistake of transmitting so close.
When my S meter went in the red, I knew they were next doors...
LOL
Old days.
