Territorial behavior.

Some posters rather mindlessly and repetively make personal attacks,
when it doesn't seem to affect things much, if you hadn't noticed.

So why do they continue?

Their behavior is territorial. They see Usenet as their personal space
and feel they have a right to control posters.

It's like that animal behavior where something goes into an animal's
nest and it tries to get that something out.

It tries, and it tries, and it tries...

I'm a highly creative person, so I use these people somewhat,
especially to highlight how irrational math people *actually* are,
versus fantasies people might have from movies like "Good Will
Hunting".

No, math people are not all these highly intelligent and often
eccentric people who figure out amazing things--that describes me.

A lot of them are petty and miserable people who try to inflict harm,
like with accusations of mental illness.

Or, like David Ullrich, they try other ways.

These people aren't even subtle. They aren't smart enough to be
subtle, and notice they don't even try to be subtle.

It's just a full frontal attack from them.
