Yes, you can simulate quantum computing on a classical computer. The
problem is efficiency. An algorithm that runs in quantum polynomial
time may not run in polynomial time when simulated on a classical
computer. The physics and the mathematics of quantum circuits are
computationally more powerful than the physics and mathematics of
classical circuits. In my opinion, there is a lot of mystical nonsense
associated with quantum physics, but the difference in computational
power is real.
