Authentication is not moot? Talking about OTPs is moot.
And hard disk encryption is lame [if done "sellably"] and inefficient
[if done properly]. Encrypt what you need, run an OS that doesn't leak
uncontrollably [re: modern Linux/BSD setup correctly and not windows].
