I appologize for the newbie question, but I hope someone could help
me: what are the security differences betwee Triple Encryption with
Three Keys and Triple Encryption with Minimum Key?
I'm reading Advanced Cryptography, and Schneier has done a number on
me with this one. On pg. 360 he describes 3-key 3DES and notes "If
you are going to use triple encryption, I recommend three different
keys." Okay, fair enough, but right below that he notes that TEMK
"prevents the previous attack" (which I assume to be the
meet-in-the-middle attack with 3-key). Wouldn't that make TEMK more
secure, and with a smaller key size as well?
thanks,
