Thank you very much for your replies!
As I said I'm kind of new to cryptography.
I understand that there are two cases, one were the smart card
might have an RNG, and the second when it doesn't.
Maybe I'm asking too much, or this is not the place to ask this
question, but supposing there is no operating system on the smart
card, is there a way to use this rng device in a language like C?
About this part
[quote:7e969c0b28]An alternative to personalisation-supplied RGK
is to use
isntead the XOR of a ROM key and the unique the chip ID,
then spread on the significant bits of a 3DES key.[/quote:7e969c0b28]
I did not understand it ery clearly, acctually what I don't
understand is how will the XOR between the fixed ROM key, and the
chip ID(that is fixed), may be random?
After the generation of some random bytes ( the seed) I'm
thinking that I might use some alghoritms for generating all the bits
of the key, like the 5.12 Algorithm FIPS 186 pseudorandom number
generator for DSA private keys presented in the Handbook of Appied
Cryptography , or the 5.3.1 ANSI X9.17 generator from the same
book.
The encrypting and decrypting of the DES , for me it seems easy,
some bit level operations, I don't know at this moment the attacks on
the DES, and the work around of those attacks, but as I was searching
the google I think I spoted some of those issues, and I hope I could
find some hints over those issues.
If it's not to much bother for you, it would be really healpful some
names of books, that might help me in my tasks, or any link. I will
gladly read any realeated material, but the real problem is that I
can not find the material that I need.
Thank you again for you replies!
