You can make this attack difficult by building the decryption
software/hardware into the MPEG4 decoder. The recording
would them be encrypted. Playable on the original recorder
and possibly a registered second player.

However if they write their own decoder the plain text can still
be obtained. You just have to sue them for copyright
infringement. The USA has criminal laws against this sort
of copying.
