As a geological concept, "Scandinavia" refers only to the peninsula
(Sweden + Norway). As a historical and political concept "Scandinavian
countries" covers also the surrounding areas, Finland, Denmark, Iceland,
and some smaller islands. The two meanings have caused some confusion,
and the term "Nordic countries" (in the latter meaning) has been coined
as a solution. But IMHO Greenland isn't one of the Nordic countries,
even though it is formally part of Denmark...
