While I don't support China's policy at all (see a previous
post), I think this is essentially its government's desire
to 'monopolize' in the sector concerned and thus to have a
gain in national economy (or 'protectionism', if you like).
The moral/ethics/fairness of this could certainly 'very' well
be questioned/criticized. But why bother that, before one
bothers other akin issues that are much much more critical
for the mankind, e.g. 'monopolization' of manifacture of
ABC weapons??? I also take a similar position e.g. towards
animal rights. For I firmly believe one should first (i.e.
with topmost priority) deal with human rights and human lives
and take steps, among others, to effectively hinder thousands
of thousands of humans dying daily because of lack of food,
void of medical care, land-mines, etc. etc. etc. 'before'
directing our limited time/effort/resources to such issues
as bad treatments of animals.
