Stream ciphers can be implemented much more efficiently in hardware.
While it is impossible to predict what future computer processors will
look like it is quite obvious there will always be a market for ciphers
that can be implemented with a minimum of ressources so I'd guess stream
ciphers will stay with us for a very long time.
