New to cryptography

I've got an entire database that needs to be encrypted and decrypted every
time information is added to, or retrieved from. I stumbled across a
VBscript implementation of Blowfish and was wondering if this would do the
job... ? At the moment I'm running an encryption component which works well
for now, but eventually I will need something a little more portable. My
main concern is speed and portability.. my DB is accessed from ASP, which
means all encrypting and decrypting needs to be done from VBscript, and in
this case components are not an option.

Any suggestion for a fast and secure cryptography solution in VBscript
(oxymoron?)?

TIA
