Tom, why are you so harsh? The newsgroup is obviously a public place,
with everyone having equal rights to post and I think everyone, you
too, should respect this fundamental rule, don't you think? If one
tries to violate this rule, one can scare away many more people from
posting or even reading the newsgroup than one intends to
scare way.
I have found one rule very useful in life - when I am going to do
something *constructive* - in most cases - I just do it; there is
always a chance I may have the luck and create something. But when I
am going to do somethink *destructive* - I think twice and in most
cases I don't do it; there is always the risk I may stop someone from
creating something.
Because I don't resent others when they succeed or try to - I
naturally follow the
above rule. I am not sure you find this rule right for you but I hope
you do, for the sake of objectivity.
If say ten people make up ten new ciphers tomorrow, why to discourage
them from posting them here? If the ciphers have flaws - it will be a
filed for you or others to attack the designs (not attack the people,
though). But maybe by some coincidence one of those designs will
really be interesting? Wouldn't you like to take a look at it then? I
know that chances are small, but - so what?

As once said, I am not a psychlogist but I think you are an
interesting type - on one hand an intelligent and successful learner
of today's cryptography (my general impression) but on the other -
aggressively attacking those who don't fit your schemes. The question
I can't answer is where your aggression comes from.
Maybe you opened yourself here a bit - by saying the above - maybe you
feel that you lack achievements. But if that is the case, I wouldn't
worry if I were you - you are young and with your mind I bet you are
able to create things interesting and valuable in the field of
cryptography.
You would achieve your goal even sooner if you wasted less energy on
destroying - looking at others' attempts and expressing destructive
comments - and instead used this energy to create your own
achievements.
One motto I herd from a man who reached the world-scale peaks in
his field says :
It is not the one who makes other feel small that is great. It is
the
one who lets others grow.
