this is a guess (since i've never done this myself) but a white object
(reflects better) or a mirror etc. Though no soft furnishings as these absorb
sound. Most texts say the window glass itself but my guess is that an object
inside the room would be just as good (especially these days cos of double
glazing).
Never used one so these are a guess!
