How does this work?

    In "Network Security" by Charlie Kaufman, etc, they say, you can
    prevent man-in-middle attack to Diffie_hellman exchange by "Encrypt
    the Diffie_Hellman value with the other side's public key". But they
    didn't give any explaination.

    Does the method really work? How does it help? I would really
    appreciate it if someone can help me solve this puzzle.
