I'm not sure I see the logic in that. I like Photoshop and Quark
XPress, so why would I run The Gimp or Scribus? I don't care about the
operating system, as long as it runs everything I want to run (currently
more than 100 applications).

Everyone has not abandoned all other operating systems. But most people
use Windows, including myself, for precisely the reasons you state. And
it doesn't make sense to abandon Windows, and attempt to replace
top-of-the-line applciations like Photoshop with inferior substitutes,
just for the sake of not running Windows. That's an emotional decision,
not a rational one.
