Oh, I've done that before, and I've never regretted it.

The lesson I learned was that sometimes you can get your management
fired by blowing the whistle, when it is in the company's best interest.

My loyalty in a company is to the company, not to my immediate
management. This turns out to work pretty well, if you talk to everyone
and not just your boss.
