The paper says:
The best estimates of the number of network connected
computers show an increase of 50% per year on a worldwide basis.
This seems high. Consumption of IP addresses is not nearly this high.

Maybe, but the whole non-Msft world is settling on flavors of unix.
Everything from Apple Macs to IBM mainframes use one of the
unix clones. Where is the diversity?
