Looking at the preceding fact in that book, there is an odd paragraph.
It says that the DES complementation property is of no help to a
cryptanalyst, but then explains how it reduces the work by a factor of 2!
The factor of 2 is correct, and it is not a major concern, but it does
indeed help in a brute force DES attack.
