Hi,
even SFS is a rather old piece of software, it
seems to solve nearly most of my encryption needs.
According to the docu it`s not recommended to
encrypt(mksfs)a bootable drive/partition, but
nevertheless it should be possible.
(I intend to decrypt partion c:, after booted
from a DOS-floppy, in order to be able to
boot afterwards Windows (NT, maybe soon W2K)
The size of that partition will be 2 to 4GB)
So I tried it on several PC`s (FAT16/FAT32)
with small(500MB) and larger HD`s (4GB) under
DOS5 and Dos7.1.
Messages after executing "mksfs volume=os c:"
Volume "os" will be created on fixed drive C:
This drive has a capacity of 125MB and is labled "OS"
Error:
An SFS volume cannot be created on a bootable drive..
So I started to "play" and I erased all systemfiles
in the root of c:. No effect. So I formated
partition C:, but still the same error messages
is shown.
Is there really no way, to make SFS believe that
my partition C: is not the bootable partition,
or has anybody a better idea/approach ?
Thank you very much!
Janeth
