How do you crack the Bifid cipher?

I have been looking at ciphers and how to break them on the internet
and I cannot find a description of how to go about tackling the bifid
cipher. I have found references to quite a few books which discus the
bifid cipher but they are all out of print.

If someone could give a quick explanation of how to tackle the bifid
cipher I would greatly appreciate it.
