First, you're completely wrong. There are processors of
recent design that are not 8-bit oriented, although of
course one can program them to handle 8-bit objects when
necessary.

Second, if your claim about programmers is true, it is a
shame they are so poorly educated, but that has no
bearing on the meaning of concepts with which they may
be unfamiliar.
