That's not quite true: Data transfer on a single neuron is less than 1
kbit/s, but might quite well reach 100 bit/s and more. A single ganglion
- which might be seen as a processor inside the network - contains up to
50000 neurons that are connected to a very complex local network - and
there might quite well be several millions of ganglions in our brain
that are connected by bundles of neurons delivering fairly high data rates.
I don't know the precise estimations up to now, but I'd guess it could
be a decade or more from now before we see the awakening of the first
network ...
