This is partly helpful. This has given me enough info to work aroound most
of the problem. Still has not fixed everything.
Doc & Settings accesses fine. Under that there are various user folders.
Only one specific user is setup on this system and THAT name is still not
accessable. The folders under it are.
If I access through the network to username documents, then it works. If I
go to c:\, doc & settings, usersname...no go, access denied.
IBTW, to access the security tab in win xp pro you also have to be in safe
mode, fyi. I have accessed ALL the folders above, in, and below the specific
dolder that still is maked private giving full access and while all allow it,
the one username folder does not.
IF you can think of why not, let me know. Do I need to set a different user
in the add list such as everyone or the specific user that is my login name
from my laptop to this desktop system?

running windows xp pro; network working fine with access to my
documents folders on network with no trouble. established remote
desktop and in getting through all the troubles with it, mainly
having to establish password account [later found that can be
fixed and has been] I set password and when asked if I want files
private I hit yes. This is not what I want but can't find any way
to remove this setting. network acess and remote desktop work
great EXCEPT I can't access my document folder on main system
where these private files are.
HOW CAN I RESET PERMISSION TO MAKE FILES PUBLIC AND CAN ACCESS MY
DOCUMENT FOLDERS ON NETWORK [sharing tab has private files clicked
but greyed out so can't uncheck it.]
