RE: MachineKeys no Security Tab shown

Thanks for that.

Next problem. This fix says that the hard drive must be formatted in NTFS.
Mine is FAT32. Does this mean I have to reformat the hard drive before I go
any further?

Using Windows xp Home Edition ver. 5.1
(Build2600.xpsp_sp2_gdr.070227-2254 Service pack2)
I am trying to resolve a problem with some third party software that
requires me to access the Security Tab in the folder C:\Documents and
Settings\All Users\Application Data\Microsoft\Crypto\RSA\MachineKeys.
When I right click on the MachineKeys Folder there is supposed to be a
Security Tab. This is not there. How to I get it to show?

I have tried this on three other computers, two with xp Professional and
one other with xp Home Edition. One of the xp Pro shows the Security Tab
but none of the others do. I have made sure that in each case I am logged
on as a user with Administrative rights.

Part of the instructions from the third party software require you to
access Windows Home Edition in Safe Mode as Aministrator and select
Folder Options to show hidden files. I have done all this.

Try this:
Go to Windows Explorer and through Tools->Folder Options
In the dialog, go to the 'View' tab and in the 'Advanced Settings' list,
check for the attribute 'Use Simple file sharing (Recommended)'
Disable that and click 'OK' to close the dialog. Now when you right-click
and select 'Properties' on a folder, you should be able to see the
'Security' tab.

Hope this helps.

No, it won't help because the OP is using XP Home and Home can't do that.
