Re: Administrators cannot access System Folders

Unless all four are logged in at the same time - it does nothing to your
system performance to have more than a single user. In fact - Windows XP is
designed to have multiple users - even if you were the 'only user' - there
would be multiple accounts on the computer.

Anyway about 4 weeks ago, no one but the first account (mine) can
access any protected directories... Program Files, Windows, etc.
Which means they cannot install programs, or even save Photoshop
brushes and plug-ins.

When you say 'cannot access', what do you mean. One part sounds pretty
final - then you just they cannot install programs and save some things in
certain areas (like Photoshop Brushes, which means they can execute
photoshop - so they have access to run things...)

I suspect a registry or security policy issue. Security policy has
all users as member of Administrators group, and all in same places
as my account. Registry scan doesn't reveal any blatent issues.

Nor would it - what you are talking about is file/folder permissions
(NTFS) - not registry.

Since this PC only has a REcovery CD, I really REALLY don't want to
go down that path. I would rather attempt registry fix first, but
am at a loss as to where to start with this issue.

You are going to fix a file/folder permissions error by editing the
registry?

Any help would be GREAT!

Check the file and folder permissions on a folder they cannot access.
Double-check they are indeed administrators (start button --> run --> type
in : cmd --> click OK --> at the command prompt, type in : net localgroup
administrators --> press <enter> --> note who is in the administrators
group) and that administrators have access to the folders in question
(right-click on a folder, select properties and look at the security tab.)
