We have a computer that is setup on a network and each
employee has to hit control alt del. To log in with a user name and
password to access the computer. One of them is listed in the user
accounts section; he was setup as an administrator so I changed him
to a user account for now. When I try to remove him from the list
is says he will not be able to use this computer if removed. Is
that true? And if it is why are not the other six people listed in
the user accounts. And the can still make changes to and save excel
document that I have setup for them in their own folders. Thank you
in advance for any help.
I believe we are missing some information here or at least have to read into
what you are saying (Are you the systems administrator for your business?)
I am going to take a guess and from th context of the entire message deduce
that you have a computer that is a member of a domain and most users are
utilizing domain accounts when logging into this machine. I make this jump
with the clues you have given... Like you have several people that use this
computer and all of them logon using a username/password combination
(assuming each one uses a unique username and password) BUT only one of
those many are listed under the local accounts in the User Accounts control
panel.
What this says to me is that out of the seven (assuming seven from your 'why
are not the other six people listed in the user accounts' query) this one
user actually logs into the local machine (or you think they do.)
First - let's confirm or rule out the 'domain theory'...
When you walk up to the computer and press CTRL+ALT+DEL - You have
'username", 'password' and is there another blank? If you expand the
username/password prompt with the 'options' button (should one exist) is
there a 'Domain' prompt? And if you click on the 'drop-down menu arrow' for
the field of 'domain', what all is listed?
