1. My home network consists of a desktop hardwired to a Microsoft hub and a
Dell laptop communicating to the hub via a wireless connection.
2. Computer operating systems are Windows XP Home Edition on the laptop and
XP Professional on the Desktop, latest updates on both.
3. The desktop utilizes dual monitors.
system network operating successfully until .......
4. Installed Spyder2Express on the laptop and desktop
5. Had to disable consecutively each monitor in the desktop dual monitor
setup for the monitor calibrating S/W to pick up the correct monitor
6. Downloaded and installed the Microsoft dual monitor color management
system.
7. Somewhere along the way the laptop will no longer communicate with the
desktop. I get the message
"Network is not accessible. You might not have permission bla, bla, bla.
Network Path not found."
8. The only operation that is different on the desk top now is after the
screen saver kicks in and then the desktop reactivated the screen now
appears where you have to click on the block containing the computer name
for the desktop screen to appear. This screen did not appear before the
communication problem occured.
7. The desktop will communicate with the laptop. Can open all shared folders
and access files.
9. All shared folders on the desktop have no access restrictions.
10. Have disabled McAfee firewall and virus protection on laptop with same
result.
11. Have re-setup the laptop network settings on the laptop with same
result.
It appears to me that after examining the dual color management system and
the original XP dual monitor control the dual monitor color management
system are redundant. Is is possible there is a software conflict?
I know this is a lot of information, but tried to indicate all activities
leading up to the problem.
Seeking help on trouble shooting this network communication problem.
