Private folder access......Help !!!

Hi,

I recently had a virus on my system which was so bad I had to reinstall
XP on my C: partition. Prior to the reinstall, I had all my private
documents on my E: partition (which was left intact after the
reinstall). My problem is that these documents were all in a private
folder which was password protected on my previous installation, and
if I try to access them now I get an "Access Denied" statement, even
though my username and password on the new installation are the same as
before. Can anyone advise on how I can retrieve these files???
