My System Volume Information (SVI) folder contains 3 sub-folders. When I
purge all the existing System Restore (SR) points, by turning OFF SR and
re-booting, one of the sub-folders is deleted, but the other two are still
there. These two folders take up 9+ GB of disk space and I'd really like to
get rid of them.

Any idea what these folders are and why they won't go away? They DO have
folders within them that start with RP, which l think is the naming used for
SR points. But why don't they go away when I turn off SR?

Have you tried to delete those folders? What happens when you try?

If you're unable to delete the folders, it's possible taking ownership of them
and assigning your account Full Control permissions will help. Take a look at

Note: If you are running Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition, you
must start the computer in safe mode, and then log on with an
account that has Administrative rights to have access to the
Security tab. To start in Safe Mode, reboot your computer and
start tapping the F8 key as soon as you see anything displayed
on the screen. Keep hitting F8 until the Advanced Startup
Options menu appears. Use the up and down arrow keys on your
keyboard to select Safe Mode. Hit Enter.
